In Collaboration with St. John The Baptist College of EducationNational Workshop on Data Analysis, Statistics & Software Packages.
November 13 – 16, 2026
Search for truth through systematic investigation or exploration to bridge the gap or to add up to the knowledge base is research. The heart and soul of any research is the selection, manipulation and interpretation of the data. In each step of any research the clarity at the researcher level is imperative. In Social Science research, research design, the data analysis and interpretation are crucial in order to end up with meaningful results and contribution. These Four days’ workshop is for the novices and intermediators to benefit with research design with suitable methodology, statistical techniques and interpretation of the results using IBM SPSS Excel and Jamovi. If you are eager to imprint footprints in research activities, this workshop is for you.
The four-day hands-on workshop on Research Methodology, Statistics and Data Analysis using Excel, SPSS and Jamovi is designed as a practical capacity-building programme. It supports learners who want to understand research from the beginning and gradually move towards statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, regression analysis and interpretation.
The uniqueness of the workshop is its integrated approach. Participants will not learn software as isolated menu operations. They will learn how a research problem becomes objectives, how objectives are linked with variables, how hypotheses are framed, how data are coded, how appropriate statistical tests are selected, and how the output is converted into meaningful report-writing language.
Objectives of the workshop
- Identify a researchable problem from academic, institutional or community contexts, Define the research problem and Develop a suitable methodology
- Frame research objectives, research questions and hypotheses in a structured manner.
- Understand the need of statistical tools and their selection in research
- Understand selection of appropriate statistical tests and analysis
- Equip with data handling, analysis and interpretation skills and Prepare a simple data sheet suitable for Excel, SPSS and Jamovi.
- Instill confidence in research faculties on data analysis and interpretation of key modules
- Identify variables and prepare operational definitions.
- Apply descriptive statistics, basic charts and graphical representation.
- Understand the logic of hypothesis testing and p-value interpretation
- Understand Research designs
- Understand Tool construction and Standardization techniques
- Run t-test, ANOVA, chi-square, correlation and regression using software
- Interpret statistical output and write findings in research-report format
Software | Beginner Focus | Statistical Focus | Output / Reporting Focus |
Excel | Data entry, coding, formula use, sorting, filtering and cleaning | Descriptive statistics, charts, correlation and basic regression | Tables, graphs and quick calculation sheets |
SPSS | Variable View, Data View, value labels and missing values | Descriptives, t-test, ANOVA, chi-square, correlation and regression | Reading output tables and writing interpretation |
Jamovi | Import data, variable setup and analysis menus | Descriptives, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, regression and assumption checks | Simple output, APA-friendly tables and learner-friendly interpretation |
With an experience of over 15 years in knowledge-based, research oriented activism and use of trending modes of communication, Media Analysis & Research Center brings you a workshop to understand the discipline of Quantitative Research methods. The workshop will go a step beyond “the understanding level of methods in research and in statistical tools” and make feel you how to use research methodology and statistical packages in your own context. Experienced faculties/trainers in the field of social science research from reputed institutions, analysis and interpretation experts will guide you in this regard
